“Once children are helped to perceive themselves as authors or inventors, once they are helped to discover the pleasure of inquiry, their motivation and interest explode.” Loris Malaguzzi

Involvement
We support the parents and families in understanding how their children are developing everyday by using HiMama as a method of communication and documentation.
Our child care also hosts Parent Teacher Conference twice a year where children and families discuss all areas of child development with our Registered Early Childhood Educators.
We believe communication between families and educators is vital. It allows all parties involved to work for the best interest of the child.
We create a space for children to feel safe. A place where they feel they belong and can be free to express themselves. The educators will strive to create a fair, no tolerance for bullying atmosphere; a home away from home, where friends turn into family.
We create a space for the children to rest and relax depending on each individual need of the child. Finally, we have spaces both inside and outside the classroom to challenge different areas that stimulate each child’s physical and mental wellbeing.
Adapting How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s pedagogy for the Early Years (2014) while incorporating Reggio approach and Montessori materials, the children can light the path, and we will guide them down this journey of understanding. We observe the children and discover what sparks their interest. It is shown that children are more engaged where there is an intrinsic motivation.
We plan, provide and encourage them to explore through play, teachable moments assisting them in their goal to find an answer. This will be achieved with the use of materials, natural effects and exploring different outcomes. There is no wrong way to learn. We hope to foster each individual child’s way of learning.
We encourage the children to interact with others in a positive way, allowing them the ability to self-regulate and problem solve.
We support these interactions in a positive way, so every encounter is a learning opportunity.
This will be achieved by guiding the children; modelling positive and appropriate ways to interact with others and offer them moments to just be.
Our educators are always learning, utilizing Professional Development days to further our learning of best practices and new advances in the world of early learning. We also learn aspects of Reggio and Montessori approach to incorporate into our curriculum. We will constantly be reviewing the best ways to educate and support the children we care for.
We promote the health, safety and well-being of the children by providing them meals that nourish their bodies, rest periods to recharge their bodies, and a safe place to play indoors and outdoors to challenge their bodies. We are doing this by creating exciting menus for them. Adhering to the recommendations in Canada’s Food Guide we will encourage the children to try new flavours.
We will invite our community into our centre and utilize our community as a teaching tool. Providing opportunities for the children to learn by experiencing all they have to offer; including community supports.
Stay connected and engaged so that you don't miss out on your child's growth. We are working together with Brightwheel to show you the daily experiences in and out of the classroom!
