LoveView Early Learning is a place where children grow; physically, socially, emotionally and academically.
Children by nature are curious vessels. We hope to cultivate an excitement of learning. Adopting the emergent approach, we hope to inspire curiosity and inquiry, both inside and outside of the classroom. Adapting How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s pedagogy for the Early Years (2014), the children can light the path, and we will guide them down this journey of understanding.
We will observe the children and discover what sparks their interest. It is shown that children are more engaged
where there is an intrinsic motivation. We will plan, provide and encourage them to explore through play, teachable moments assisting them in their goal to find an answer. This will be achieved with the use of materials, natural effects and exploring different outcomes. There is no wrong way to learn. We hope to foster each individual child’s way of
learning.
We will support the parents in understanding how their children are progressing. This will be done by having a
constant line of communication always open. Specifically, by have a parent’s night two times a year in which educators, children and parents come together a discuss all areas of child development, highlighting their strengths and which areas each child requires support and encouragement. The communication of parents with educators (visa versa) is vital, one without the other, doesn’t allow us (a teaching team) to work for the best interest of the child.
We will promote the health, safety and well-being of the children by providing them meals that nourish their
bodies, rest periods to recharge their bodies, and a safe place to play indoors and outdoors to challenge their bodies. We will do this by creating exciting menus for them. Adhering to the recommendations in Canada’s Food Guide we will encourage the children to try new flavours. We will create a space for children to feel safe. A place where they feel they belong and can be free to express themselves. The educators will strive to create a fair, no tolerance for bullying atmosphere; a home away from home, where friends turn into family. We will create a space for the children to rest and relax depending on each individual need of the child. Finally, we have spaces both inside and outside the classroom to challenge different areas that stimulate each child’s physical and mental wellbeing.
We will encourage the children to interact with others in a positive way, allowing them the ability to self-
regulate and problem solve. We will support these interactions in a positive way, so every encounter is a learning opportunity. This will be achieved by guiding the children; showing them positive and appropriate ways to interact with others and offer them moments to just be.
Our educators are always learning, utilizing Professional Development days to further our learning of best
practices and new advances in the world of early learning. We will constantly be reviewing the best ways to educate and support the children we care for.
We will invite our community into our centre and utilize our community as a teaching tool. Providing opportunities for the children to learn by experiencing all they have to offer; including community supports.
“Once children are helped to perceive themselves as authors or inventors, once they are helped to discover the
pleasure of inquiry, their motivation and interest explode.” Loris Malaguzzi
